About

I am a creator and explorer:

My love of art started at a young age growing up surrounded by the mountainous landscapes of Clinton County Pennsylvania.  Jewelry has always been a passion of mine since I was a little girl creating and making jewelry for friends. I was always creating things and when I took my first Fine Metals class at Kutztown University I was hooked.  I have always been drawn to the organic forms and textures created by Mother Nature. In my explorations I am drawn to the textures and patterns in our uneven and rocky landscape. These textures in combination with geometric shapes influence the aesthetic of my work.

My process:

Each design begins as a drawing on paper. I start with organic and geometric shapes inspired by rock and mountainous ridges that appear in Central Pennsylvania. After creating the shapes I arrange the pieces in my sketchbook to develop a series of designs. Once I have my ideas I set off to work in my home studio.

I am a teacher and forever a student:

I attended college at Kutztown University where I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Art Education and I completed my M.P.S in Art Education and Museum Studies at Penn State University. I went to college knowing that I would one day teach art to students. Learning about education forced me to revisit my own education, recalling important moments and how I can inspire my students. I am always encouraging my students to take risks in their own work but failed to explore new media myself. This body of work is the result of me stepping outside of my comfort zone and exploring the etching process using copper.

I hope you enjoy my jewelry collection which is about celebrating the maker’s mark and the beauty of artistic exploration.
